Mail Merge for Student/Staff Email
Template
Mail merge templates to do a personalized email to students and staff that includes the link and their username and password.
Created by Beth Hennes, Madison West High School (Formerly at Marshall Public Schools)
(January 2018)
I send this out a few times a year, using the same Google Sheet that I use to feed my OverDrive Library Card Manager to upload users. My Google Add-on of choice for that is Form Mule–I also use this for other database logins sometimes.” – Beth Hennes

Digital Library Cards
Template

Created by Beth Hennes, Madison West High School (Formerly at Marshall Public Schools)
(March 2019)
For our littlest kids without emails (PreK-3) and elementary who might rarely check email, we made “digital library cards” that we could print to send home (and laminate for classroom use). We made one mega-long PDF so that we could print more than one per page. My Google Add-on of choice for that is Autocrat. I used the Library Card Manager Google Sheet for that one too.

Back in Time: Marketing Materials for Parents from 2018

The following WSDLC Member-created examples are wonderful for sparking ideas, but include outdated language and reference links/sites that are no longer available. Use these to jumpstart your own materials and to help you craft your messaging.

OverDrive Overview for Parents

(January 2018, Google Doc)
Created by Mike Scoville from Gibralter Area Schools, this one-page handout provides the basics about the WSDLC and OverDrive in both English and Spanish.

Letter for parents to explain OverDrive changes

(January 2018, .pdf)
For schools who already subscribed to OverDrive, created by Jen Peterson, Menasha Joint School District

Flier for Parents

(January 2018, .pdf)
A brief introduction to the WSDLC resources, by Beth Hennes when she was at Marshall Public Schools.

Connecting with your Public Library

Note: These resources are NOT about Public Library Connect, but rather the option for students to use Sora to also access materials from their public library, as long as they have a public library card. Materials from their public library DO NOT follow your school’s content access levels.
