What does Sora mean?

Sora is the Japanese word for ‘sky’. It is meant to evoke the feeling of soaring to new heights, exploring new territories, and learning without bounds.

Which app stores is Sora available in?

The Sora mobile app is available in the Apple App and Google Play stores, including any Chromebook devices that support the Google Play Store. Look for “Sora by Overdrive.” Sora is also available via web browser at https://soraapp.com/library/wsdlcwi

How can students and staff get troubleshooting help for Sora?

OverDrive offers Sora help through the in-app menu and also provides direct technical support for Sora users from within the app.

How can my high school students not see the titles for younger students?

If high school users are given the access level “Upper High School”, they will have access to all titles in the collection: Lower Elementary, Upper Elementary, Middle School, Lower High School, and Upper High School.
To “remove” lower-leveled titles from view, students will need to adjust their filters within their own account:

  1. Log in to Sora
  2. Go to Explore
  3. Select Preferences
  4. Select Audience
  5. Select the access levels they’d like to view. The default setting is “All” which will show them everything, but they can click on any of the options to display only those titles.
