New to OverDrive/Sora: Share a List
Earlier this month, OverDrive released an all new feature to Sora: Share a List!
Students and other Sora users have long had the choice to create lists within their accounts as a way to keep track of titles they’ve read, liked, or would like to organize in any other way. But now, users have the opportunity to share these lists with others! Lists can be named and shared out with other students within the district by link, QR code, or a unique list code.
If a list includes titles outside a users Content Access Level assignment, those titles do not display to that user.
Learn more about Share a List and get inspiration on how staff can leverage this feature in OverDrive’s recent blog post Making Reading Connections, One Shared List at a Time.
Follow the helpful how-tos in OverDrive’s Help Center to get started:
Speaking of OverDrive’s Help Center…
OverDrive Help Center / Sora Help Reminder
If you’re ever unsure about how to use a feature within Marketplace or Sora, or if you just want to see what’s new, WSDLC Project Managers and the WSDLC Team at OverDrive encourage users to review OverDrive’s Help Center Resources: Marketplace Help | Sora Help. These pages are filled with short, step-by-step how-tos for everything that is available to WSDLC Members.
And best of all, help pages are updated right alongside feature updates! So you always know that the instructions are up-to-date with what you’ll be seeing on your end.
You can find OverDrive’s Help Center resources through these links:
You can also always navigate to the Help Center from your Marketplace Account:
- Log in to Marketplace
- Click on the Support option from the top menu ribbon
- Select either Marketplace Help or Sora Help (or any option that seems most relevant) from the Help and Resources section

WSDLC’s Reach More Readers Challenge is On Now!
The 5th Annual Reach More Readers Challenge is happening now- make sure your students are logging into Sora and checking out titles, and maybe your school can take home the glory and win some sweet Sora swag! And as of May 15th, the leading district has seen an 8,100% increase in students checking out titles- WOW!
New Inspiration Resource! Looking for more ways to get students logging in? Watch the newest episode of OverDrive’s Classroom Book Talk: How to Keep Students Reading All Summer Long!
Description: “In our latest episode of Classroom Book Talk, we sat down with elementary school librarian Melanie Wood of Melanie in the Library to talk all things summer reading and how educators, librarians, and families can help students stay engaged with books over the summer break. Hear Melanie’s tips for using Sora over summer break, book recommendations, and how to help students build strong, sustainable reading habits all year long. From building personalized TBRs to using Sora for easy access to ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines, Melanie shares strategies that make summer reading feel fun instead of like homework. We also discuss why student choice matters, how audiobooks and graphic novels absolutely count as reading, and creative ways to motivate even the most reluctant readers.”
What is the Reach More Readers Challenge?
In 2022, the WSDLC and OverDrive began hosting a competition between all WSDLC member schools to encourage students to check out a title in Sora during the month of May, increasing their awareness of this resource before summer break begins.
WSDLC member school staff get their students to log in to Sora and check out a title during the month of May. WSDLC Project Managers and the WSDLC Sora/OverDrive team compare the number of individual students that checked out titles in March 2026 to the number in May 2026. The school district(s) that have seen the greatest increase in the number of students checking out materials in Sora between these two months will be declared the winner, and even score some fabulous prizes!
How Can My School/District Participate?
Every school that joined the WSDLC before March 1st, 2026 is automatically entered into this competition.
What you need to do is spread the word to your students to have them log in to Sora and check out [at least] one title!
Go to the Reach More Readers Challenge page for more information and links to marketing materials, ideas, and shareable QR Codes for curated collections!
So get ahead of the summer slide and increase awareness of the WSDLC collections by encouraging your students to participate in a friendly competition with other schools across the state!
