FAQs

What will happen to my MARC records? Where will the links direct my students?
Your MARC records will continue to direct students to the Classic WSDLC website rather than Sora at this time.

Will the current WSDLC digital library URL continue to work?
Yes, the WSDLC OverDrive URL and website will continue to work. If you’d like to direct students to Sora instead, we recommend linking to https://soraapp.com/library/wsdlcwi and instructing students to add your school.

What does Sora mean?
Sora is the Japanese word for ‘sky’. It is meant to evoke the feeling of soaring to new heights, exploring new territories, and learning without bounds.

Which app stores is Sora available in?
The Sora mobile app is available in the Apple App and Google Play stores, including any Chromebook devices that support the Google Play Store. Look for “Sora by Overdrive.” Sora is also available via web browser at https://soraapp.com/library/wsdlcwi

What features are not yet in Sora?
OverDrive is continuing to develop Sora to meet the needs of students and teachers best. Some features you can look forward to in the short term include MARC record integration, Recommend to School, enhanced accessibility options, and more. Streaming video and PDFs are also not currently compatible with Sora.

What is the WSDLC setup code?
wsdlcwi

Can students use both my school’s current OverDrive website and Sora at the same time?
For the best student experience, we recommend consistently using just one platform. If students alternate between your OverDrive site and Sora, their activity (including notes and highlights) will not sync across experiences.  OverDrive highly recommends schools use Sora. There are plans to sunset Classic OverDrive in time.

How can students and staff get troubleshooting help for Sora?
OverDrive offers Sora help through the in-app menu and also provides direct technical support for Sora users from within the app.

How can my high school students not see the titles for younger students?
If high school users are given the access level “Adult” they will have access to all titles in the collection: Juvenile, YA, and Adult level titles.
To help limit the titles students see when searching, a setting under Preferences in Sora will allow students to choose what level of content they want to see:

  1. Log in to Sora
  2. Go to Explore
  3. Select Preferences
  4. Select Audience
  5. Select the access levels they’d like to view. The default setting is “All” which will show them everything, but they can click on General Adult and Young Adult to filter out the Juvenile titles.
