From OverDrive: Reminder to Use Expiring Content Credit Before June 30th

Earlier this year, OverDrive updated their Content Credit policy so that Content Credit must be spent within 12 months of purchase.
With this update in mind, schools/districts that have expiring Content Credit- credit that was purchased prior to July 1st, 2024- will want to spend their expiring funds before June 30th.

Shop the current sales at OverDrive:

  1. Log into Marketplace
  2. Click on “Featured” in the top menu ribbon
  3. Explore the sales!

Not sure what to purchase? Don’t have enough time to think about? Let OverDrive help!

Reach out to the WSDLC OverDrive Team’s Cory Alford at calford@overdrive.com, and he and the rest of the team can help identify titles that would be a best fit for your school(s) based on holds, usage, and any other considerations you note.

Not sure if you have expiring Content Credit?

The OverDrive team has reached out to contacts with Advantage Accounts that will have content credit expiring on June 30th, along with the amount they need to spend. If you haven’t seen this information come through, you can double-check with the OverDrive team by emailing them at wsdlc@overdrive.com.

Updated MARC Records Available

For those schools that choose to display WSDLC-holdings in their online catalogs, the most recent set of WSDLC Shared Collection MARC records is now available to download as a ZIP file from the WSDLC website! You can find them on both the Collections Information and Circulation Policies page and on the MARC Records FAQ page.
You can download the MARC files for all five collections at once, or download each collection one-by-one. Each ZIP folder contains the MARC files for Ebooks, Audiobooks, and Magazines separately.

A few things to note:

  • Sora Content Access Levels do not apply in online catalogs. Meaning if you upload MARC records for WSDLC shared collection content, your students will be able to search for every title in the collection (but they will not be able to check them out if the titles fall outside the students’ access level).
  • The WSDLC recommends using Sora for searching directly and not uploading MARC records. Please contact the wsdlc-info@wils.org for assistance or questions.
If your district has filtered specific consortium titles from view of your students, you will need to remove those titles from your catalog individually once imported.

WSDLC’s Reach More Readers Challenge is Back!

The 5th Annual Reach More Readers Challenge will be starting next week, on May 1st!

What is the Reach More Readers Challenge?

In 2022, the WSDLC and OverDrive began hosting a competition between all WSDLC member schools to encourage students to check out a title in Sora during the month of May, increasing their awareness of this resource before summer break begins.
WSDLC member school staff get their students to log in to Sora and check out a title during the month of May. WSDLC Project Managers and the WSDLC Sora/OverDrive team compare the number of individual students that checked out titles in March 2026 to the number in May 2026. The school district(s) that have seen the greatest increase in the number of students checking out materials in Sora between these two months will be declared the winner, and even score some fabulous prizes!

How Can My School/District Participate?

Every school that joined the WSDLC before March 1st, 2026 is automatically entered into this competition.
What you need to do is spread the word to your students to have them log in to Sora and check out [at least] one title!
Go to the Reach More Readers Challenge page for more information and links to marketing materials, ideas, and shareable QR Codes for curated collections!

So get ahead of the summer slide and increase awareness of the WSDLC collections by encouraging your students to participate in a friendly competition with other schools across the state!
