Have a great week!

Volunteers are Being Accepted to Serve on the WSDLC Board

Volunteers are now being accepted for 5 seats on the WSDLC board, one each from the following CESA regions: CESA 6, CESA 8, CESA 9, CESA 10, and CESA 11.
If you work at a WSDLC Member School District in one of these regions, we encourage you to volunteer to serve on the WSDLC Board. You do not need to have specific or prior knowledge about the consortium, Sora, or OverDrive to serve on the Board. Project Managers provide all the information you need. Volunteers only need to be willing to share the experience and knowledge they already have, and they must be their district’s Member Representative.

The WSDLC Board helps make decisions that guide the consortium’s collection, budget, communications, and projects so it continues to serve the important needs of Wisconsin schools and students. Your perspective and experience are critical to this goal!
In addition to serving the statewide education community, you can also build relationships and gain experience that will support your own professional growth.

Read more details about board member expectations and duties on the WSDLC website.

Terms are for three years, beginning on September 1st, 2026.
Serving on the WSDLC Board will take no more than 8 hours of your time annually. The Board has regular, one-hour meetings 4 times per year, typically in October, January, March, and April. There are two additional meetings during the year: a Board Orientation in the fall and the Annual Membership Meeting in the spring.

To volunteer yourself or a colleague (with their permission) for the WSDLC Board, please reach out to the WSDLC Project Managers (wsdlc-info@wils.org) for the volunteer form.
The deadline for volunteering is March 27th. Voting will be open April 6th – 24th.

Please email wsdlc-info@wils.org with any questions.

From Around the State: Congratulations to All Battle of the Books Participants & Winners!

This year’s Battle of the Books, hosted by WEMTA, just wrapped up, and we wanted to share out our congratulations and gratitude to everyone who participated! The WSDLC Project Managers love this event, and look forward to seeing the results each year.

Warming our hearts with this event even further is seeing WSDLC Member schools with teams that placed in the top three of their divisions! With that, we want to share an extra shoutout to: La Crosse School District’s North Woods Elementary & Longfellow Middle School, Manitowoc School District’s Wilson Middle School, Maple School District’s Northwestern High School, Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District’s Middleton High School, Superior School District’s Four Corners Elementary, and Verona Area School District’s Verona High School!

What is WEMTA’S Battle of the Books (BoB)? BoB is an online trivia competition for students across Wisconsin. There are three divisions for students to compete in: Elementary (grades 4-6), Middle (grades 6-8), and Senior (grades 8+). Students can form teams of 2-4 people and, between them read from a list of 20 books. Starting in early February, students have the opportunity to participate in “practice battles”, and the official Battle of the Books runs the last full week of February.

You can learn more about the BoB on WEMTA’s Battle of the Books website.

Annual Membership Survey: Thank You for Sharing Your Feedback!

Thank you very much to everyone who took time to provide feedback through this year’s Annual WSDLC Membership Survey!
We’ve received a record number of responses this year, and truly appreciate the comments, concerns, and wins you’ve shared with us.

Project Managers will be reviewing the responses over the next few weeks, and will be making plans on how to use the feedback and implement changes and updates for the 2026-27 membership year (and beyond).

We will be sharing out the results of the survey at the Annual Membership Meeting, coming up in May.
