February 17th, 2026

Hello and good morning!
It’s the third Tuesday of the month, which means we’re sending your way a brief overview of what’s been happening with the WSDLC lately! This week’s message includes:

  • 2025’s usage statistics,
  • a reminder on the current Advantage Bundle carts,
  • upcoming direct-to-your-inbox messaging from the WSDLC, and
  • just in case you missed it, an upcoming accessibility update from OverDrive for those of you who utilize Sora Showcase (specific details will have been shared from OverDrive directly with relevant contacts on file for your district, but we wanted to share a brief overview here, too)

As always, the WSDLC project managers (wsdlc-info@wils.org) and the WSDLC team at OverDrive (wsdlc@overdrive.com) are always available if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Have a great week, all!

2025 WSDLC Year in Review

WOW! Another record-breaking year in WSDLC usage is in the books! Many thank yous to all of you- the WSDLC members- for investing in and being a part of this resource that is reaching so many Wisconsin students.

Here are the final usage numbers in the WSDLC’s collections for January – December of 2025:

  • 148,261 Students checked out at least one title
That’s 29% of all enrolled students, which is the highest percentage yet! Looking at previous years, 2024 had 28.5% of all students checking out a title; and 25% of all enrolled students checked out a title in 2023.
  • 2,282,875 Total Checkouts
    • 1,820,010 Ebooks were checked out
    • 347,404 Audiobooks were checked out
    • 115,461 Magazines were checked out
  • 87% of all available titles circulated at least once
Of the 25,682 titles that were available in 2025, 22,380 were checked out at least once.
  • 398,611 titles/copies were purchased for the shared collections
    • 357,331 copies of Ebooks were purchased
    • 41,280 copies of Audiobooks were purchased

What a year! Every one of these stats is a significant increase over 2024’s usage (which was significantly higher than 2023’s usage), and we can’t wait to see what the WSDLC will accomplish in 2026! We’ll share comparisons to years-past during the Annual Membership Meeting, happening in May.

Watch Your Inboxes: WSDLC Opportunities Coming Up Soon!

Next week kicks off the WSDLC’s round of annual opportunities for members! We’ll be sending many of these opportunities to your inboxes directly (and possibly adding reminders to these bimonthly messages), so keep a watch for more information on each of these in the coming weeks:

WSDLC Membership Survey

Our annual survey will be open for your feedback beginning next Monday, February 23rd.
This year’s survey is going to look a little different, as it’s a mini survey! We’ve trimmed down the questions to make it more relevant, smooth, and simple for WSDLC Members to share their feedback.

This survey is an opportunity for member schools and districts to provide valuable feedback to the WSDLC Board and Project Managers: what do you love about the WSDLC and Sora; how is your school/district using the collections; do you have any pain points; and what kinds of updates would you like to see from Sora and the WSDLC in the future. Your responses will be used to help the WSDLC Board further develop the Consortium and the OverDrive service. The results from this survey will be shared with the WSDLC membership at the Annual Membership Meeting in May.

WSDLC Board Elections

Just two weeks later on March 9th, we will be sending out a call to all WSDLC Member Representatives for nominations to be on the WSDLC Board! There are five seats coming up for election this year: CESA 6, CESA 8, CESA 9, CESA 10, and CESA 11.
If you are a member one of these five CESAs and are your district’s WSDLC Member Representative*, please consider nominating yourself, or even a colleague from these areas!
*Each participating district has one designated Member Representative. This Member Representative will be eligible to vote and to be nominated to serve on the Board. The representative may be a library media specialist, curriculum expert, technology consultant, or administrator. If you aren’t sure who your district’s Member Representative is, or if you would like to designate someone else as your district’s Member Representative, reach out to the Project Managers at wsdlc-info@wils.org.

About the WSDLC Board: The WSDLC is governed by a Board consisting of members of the consortium and representatives from the partners (CESA Statewide Network, DPI, and WILS). Each Board Member serves a three-year term, and there are no term limits. The WSDLC Board holds regular meetings 4-6 times per year, and all meetings are online. A total commitment of around 7 hours per year is expected.

Not sure if you know enough about the WSDLC, Sora, OverDrive, etc to be a part of the Board? That’s okay! It’s your experience working in a Wisconsin school library and with students that matters the most! So if you have an interest, you already have what it takes to be a member of the WSDLC’s governance. Everything else- knowledge about OverDrive, Sora, the WSDLC- those are the details that the Project Managers and current Board members can help get you up-to-speed on in no-time.

You can find out more in the WSDLC Board Operational Guidelines.

WSDLC Selection Advisory Committee Volunteers

Then coming up a few short weeks after that, on April 6th, we’ll send out the call for volunteers to serve on the Selection Advisory Committee. The WSDLC Board will review the list of volunteers at their April meeting, and committee members will be appointed in order to have a diversity of geography, enrollment size, and grade level experience.

About the Selection Advisory Committee: The Selection Advisory Committee is made up of school library media specialists and recommends the scope and direction of the collections included in the WSDLC, and they advise the project manager and vendors on operational collection decisions, including content to be included and budget allocations, as directed by the Board and Collection Development Policy.

You can view the full Selection Advisory Guidelines, which includes the committee’s full charge, membership, member expectations, and meeting schedule details, here.
