October’s Usage Statistics

Looking at October’s Sora usage across the consortium:

  • 39,254 Audiobooks were checked out,
  • 217,129 Ebooks were checked out, and
  • 13,215 Magazines were checked out,

all adding up to a monthly total of 269,598 titles read!

These checkouts were made by 52,381 individual students across the state, a new record!; and 10,270 of these students had never checked out a book in Sora previously.

No Holds on Middle and High School Battle of the Books Titles

We are excited to announce a Cost Per Circ (CPC) Pilot for the 2025-2026 Middle and High School Battle of the Books titles which will began TODAY and will run until December 5th. CPC allows titles that are typically one user at a time, to be checked out by multiple students at the same time!

What does this mean for your students? CPC means no waiting and no holds necessary for in-demand titles. Students will be able to check out 2 each of ebooks and audiobooks that are designated as CPC titles. There is no designation in Sora for these CPC titles, although the Battle of the Books titles are curated into three collections for elementary, middle and high school.

Please note elementary school BOB titles are not part of this pilot.

If you have questions, please contact us at wsdlc-info@wils.org

FAQ: How can I adjust the Content Access Level of titles I own?

One of the top questions the WSDLC team at OverDrive receives about collections is: How to change the level of a book so that it becomes available for either more or fewer students, based on the collections (content access levels) their students have access to.

The attached PDF provides a quick overview of the WSDLC’s Content Access Levels (CALs), and then dives into the two ways schools can adjust the CALs of the titles they own:

  • How to adjust the CAL right when purchasing the title; and
  • Adjusting the CAL at a later date

If you have any additional questions on adjusting the CALs of a title, and how this tool can work in tandem with other tools within OverDrive Marketplace and your Advantage Account, you can reach out to:

  • The WSDLC’s OverDrive/Sora Digital Content Specialist, Beth Saxton: bsaxton@overdrive.com
  • The full WSDLC OverDrive/Sora Team: wsdlc@overdrive.com
