Now Accepting Nominations for the WSDLC Board!
We are excited to announce that nominations are being accepted from schools or districts in the following CESA areas: CESA 1, CESA 4, CESA 6, CESA 7, CESA 8, CESA 10, CESA 11, CESA 12!
Board membership is a vital part of the WSDLC, and we are asking all member representatives to please consider if you can participate. The Board member guidelines are simple, and we try to keep meetings and outside work to a minimum.
-
- Terms are three years (there are no term limits) and begin on September 1st.
- A total commitment of around 7 hours per year is expected.
- Meetings are held via Zoom, and there are 4-6 meetings per year.
- Information for meetings is shared beforehand via Basecamp to allow Board members to participate in discussions and decision-making effectively.
- Advocate for the project and participate in fundraising efforts, as the position allows.
- Oversee the monitoring and tracking of the WSDLC budget to ensure fidelity between the work conducted and the available funds.
- Monitor and track the contract with the project manager.
Please consider nominating yourself or a colleague (with their permission) by completing this brief nominations form by the end of the day on Friday, April 15th.
Voting will open on Monday, April 18th, and runs through May 6th.
Please email wdlc-info@wils.org with any questions.
We appreciate your consideration!

Item of Interest: Art Resources Transfer is Offering Free Art Books for Schools!
One of our WiLS colleagues recently discovered a wonderful program that we want to make sure to share with you all:
For school libraries looking to add more (and FREE!) physical books and publications about the arts and artists to their collections, Art Resources Transfer (known as A.R.T.) is a nationwide program working to provide egalitarian access to literacy and the arts. School libraries are eligible to place an annual order of free art books through their Library Program.

2022-23 Membership Renewal Quotes Available Later This Week!
We are tidying up and finalizing pricing estimates for WSDLC members for the 2022-23 membership year, and quotes will be sent via email to your school’s Main Contact by the end of the week!
The price quote email will include a link to a form where you can approve/deny your membership renewal and an opportunity for you to make any updates to your membership information. We ask that you complete this form before August 15th, 2022. Any school that does not respond to the form before September 1st, 2022, will be automatically renewed for the 2022-23 membership year.
As a reminder, in March 2021, the WSDLC Board approved a 3% increase for each of the succeeding three membership years. We are entering into year two of this approval, and the price will increase by $.05 per student to $1.60 per student for the 22-23 membership year.

Flipped Classroom: Purchasing
During March, we’re taking a look at Purchasing! In this Flipped Classroom, you’ll get an inside look at how titles are selected and purchased for the Consortium. You’ll also find more details on how to purchase titles for your Advantage account: learn how to build and manage carts, add content credit, adjust the content access level for your purchases, and read some tips and tricks on how to avoid accidentally purchasing titles more than once (when you don’t necessarily mean to)!
During our Flipped Classroom months, materials on various topics are available for members to review, and OverDrive staff is ready to schedule one-on-one 20-minute sessions to answer your questions. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments on the flipped classroom content; we’d love to hear what you’re thinking!

FAQ: What are some ways I can promote the WSDLC collections?
We’ve got you covered! There is a dedicated section of the WSDLC website that is just filled with resources for this exact purpose: the Marketing and Promotion Resources. On this page, you can find print-ready bookmarks (plus a bookmark file that can be edited to include your school’s branding), informational half-sheets, messaging templates, flyers, and a link to OverDrive’s promotional resources page. Materials are also separated for their target groups: there are sections for information for students, educators, and parents!
In October 2021, we opened a Member Idea Exchange document for members to share their success stories in raising awareness and increasing their school’s use of Sora. Several great ideas were added to this document, many of which are about marketing strategies!
And as a hint of things to come, another new Flipped Classroom is in the works for April that will focus on this very topic.
If you have any promotional resources or ideas that can be adapted for schools across the state, please share them with the WSDLC member community through the wsdlc-members@wils.org listserv! Anything that gets shared here will also be added to the Marketing and Promotion Resources page. (We already have some great member-created content here!)
