We are very excited to be able to host Dr. Krista Aronson from Bates College, this Friday, January 17th from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
Dr. Aronson’s work focuses on illuminating how people come to understand complex social constructs like race and ethnicity, including how children process and understand race as well as appropriate, effective and productive ways to discuss this topic with them; specifically, the effective use of picture books to enhance intercultural relationships and self-understanding during childhood.
Through her work with the Diverse Book Collection and the Diverse BookFinder, both of which she created with collaborators, Dr. Aronson contributes to the national dialogue about diverse children’s books, capturing and communicating their dominant messages and exploring their impact on inclusion and bias, including how teachers, librarians and parents can utilize them in everyday life. Please join us for what will be an informative, eye-opening exploration of the power that diversity in picture books has with children and adults of all races and genders.
Registration is free, please use this link to sign up.
We hope you can join us for this special WiLS World Short.
